Gaensley Noel, a 23-year-old Black male, was tragically shot and killed on August 18, 2020, in Sanford, Florida. On that day, Noel was found behind the wheel of a parked car on Yale Drive, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The incident was initially described by police as an "isolated robbery-related incident."
Following the shooting, Sanford police launched an investigation that led to the arrest of 19-year-old Tristan L. Sanders. Sanders was apprehended on August 31, 2020, and charged with felony homicide, attempted robbery with a firearm, burglary with a battery, possession of a firearm by a delinquent, and shooting a missile into an occupied conveyance. According to police reports, Sanders attempted to steal a cell phone from Noel, which resulted in the fatal shooting.
