Dequan Reshai Saxton, a 20-year-old resident of Jacksonville, Florida, tragically lost his life on March 17, 2021. Two days after Saxton's death, on March 19, 2021, Inandi Wyche, a 17-year-old Ribault High School cheerleader, was fatally shot in what police believe was a retaliatory attack for Saxton's killing. Wyche was not the intended target, but her death highlighted the escalating gang violence in the community.
In connection with these incidents, several arrests were made. Roland Lamar Ball Jr., 21, was arrested on charges of second-degree murder, aggravated battery, and shooting deadly missiles. Additionally, Xavion Marquis Porter, 16, was charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
