Karesha Brissett, a 45-year-old woman from Port St. Lucie, Florida, was tragically found dead in her home on November 30, 2021. The discovery was made after a friend went to check on her when she failed to show up for work. Upon arrival, the friend noticed the shattered rear sliding glass door and called the police. Investigators found Brissett's body inside her home, with evidence suggesting she had been shot through the sliding glass door.
Thirteen spent shell casings were discovered on the back patio, indicating that the shooter did not enter the residence but fired from outside.
The Port St. Lucie police have stated that the shooting appears to have been a targeted crime rather than a random act of violence. Despite extensive investigations, the motive behind the crime remains unclear. The police have not identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with Brissett's death. The investigation has also involved the St. Lucie County sheriff’s bomb squad, which was called to the scene after police found containers with an unknown liquid. These containers were later identified as a gas container and glass bottles with rags and liquids, which were removed from the scene.
