On February 26, 2022, Malakyi Knowledge Smith, a 20-year-old resident of Port Orange, Florida, tragically lost his life in a shooting incident at the Sunrise Pointe Apartments on Richel Drive. The Port Orange police responded to a call at approximately 7:50 a.m. and discovered Smith and another victim, Traves L. Plummer, 19, with gunshot wounds in the apartment complex's parking lot.
