Jean Oneal Guillaume, a 20-year-old male from Greenacres, FL, was tragically shot and killed on March 15, 2022. The incident occurred at the Waterway Village apartment community, a gated complex located along Jog Road. Guillaume's death was the result of a marijuana sale that turned into a robbery. According to reports, Guillaume had negotiated a deal for two pounds of marijuana with Lucas Torres, a 23-year-old man from suburban West Palm Beach.
The transaction took place inside Guillaume's apartment, but it quickly escalated into violence, leading to Guillaume being shot multiple times and found dead in the parking lot outside his apartment.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation into the murder, which led to the arrest of two suspects. Lucas Torres was arrested in March 2022 and charged with first-degree murder. Investigators found evidence placing Torres at the scene of the crime, and cellphone records revealed his connection to the victim. Torres remains in custody at the Palm Beach County Jail.
A second suspect, Irijah Nembhard, a 21-year-old male from West Palm Beach, was also arrested and charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery. Nembhard owned the gray Nissan Altima that was seen entering and leaving the Waterway Village complex at the time of the shooting. Surveillance footage and cellphone records linked Nembhard to the crime scene. During a search of Nembhard's residence, investigators found a 9mm handgun and 1.5 pounds of marijuana. Nembhard denied knowing the victim or being at the scene, but the evidence contradicted his claims.
The case against both suspects is ongoing, with both men facing serious charges related to the murder of Jean Oneal Guillaume. The Palm Beach County Public Defender's Office is representing Nembhard, but as a matter of policy, they do not comment on open cases. The tragic death of Jean Oneal Guillaume is one of the many homicides that have occurred in Palm Beach County, highlighting the ongoing issue of violent crime in the area.
