Dolores Felipe-Pedro, aged 18, tragically passed away on April 17, 2022, in West Palm Beach, Florida. Initially, her boyfriend, Alex Castanon, claimed that an unknown intruder had entered their home and shot her in the head. However, this story quickly unraveled as police investigations revealed inconsistencies. Surveillance footage showed no one entering the house before Castanon emerged with Felipe-Pedro's body. Further investigation led to Castanon's confession that the gun went off during a struggle between him and Felipe-Pedro over its placement in the couch cushions.
Castanon was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He later accepted a plea deal, pleading guilty to manslaughter with a firearm. During the court proceedings, Castanon expressed remorse for his actions and stated that he did not want to put Felipe-Pedro's family through the ordeal of a trial.
