The incident occurred at the Aventura Harbor apartments, where Guillaume was targeted for his jewelry. According to Miami-Dade Police, Guillaume had just dropped off his daughter at her mother's apartment before returning to the complex. As he entered the stairwell, he was confronted by an armed assailant who demanded his valuables. Guillaume was shot and collapsed in the stairwell, where the assailant proceeded to steal his gold bracelet and a custom gold chain with a diamond-encrusted pendant spelling "Deniro." Despite being rushed to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, Guillaume succumbed to his injuries a few days later.
The investigation into Guillaume's murder has been ongoing, with Miami-Dade Police actively seeking information from the public to identify and apprehend the perpetrator. Detectives have distributed flyers in the area and held press conferences to appeal for witnesses or anyone with knowledge of the crime to come forward.
