The incident occurred at Princetonian Park in southwest Miami-Dade, where Coard was found with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. The Miami-Dade Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter alert around 9:15 p.m., which led them to the scene. Despite the prompt arrival of emergency services, Coard was pronounced dead at the scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel.
