Cory Schweitzer, a 31-year-old Marion County Sheriff's Office detention deputy, tragically lost his life on August 19, 2022, in Pine Ridge, Florida. On that day, deputies responded to a call regarding a potential suicide at a residence in Pine Ridge Estates. Upon arrival, they found Schweitzer with an apparent gunshot wound and unresponsive.
