Bryan Soria Figueredo, a 20-year-old resident of Orlando, Florida, tragically lost his life on December 4, 2022, as a result of a fatal shooting. The incident occurred at the Osprey Links at Hunters Creek Apartments, where deputies from the Orange County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Figueredo with a gunshot wound to the head near the golf course at the back of the complex.
He was immediately transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The investigation revealed that the suspect, Luis Angel Rivera Soto, 24, had a prior relationship with a woman who was present at the scene and was Figueredo's current girlfriend. Rivera and the woman had known each other for about a year, having worked together at a hotel. On the day of the incident, Rivera had called the woman to pick up his house keys. When Figueredo went out to check on her and introduce himself, an argument ensued between him and Rivera. The situation escalated when Figueredo attempted to disarm Rivera by removing a man purse that contained a firearm. Despite efforts to remove the weapon from the scene, Rivera managed to retrieve it and fatally shot Figueredo.
Following the shooting, Rivera fled the scene and was later apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Puerto Rico. He was charged with first-degree murder and awaited extradition back to Florida to face trial. The case drew significant attention due to the circumstances surrounding the relationship between the suspect, the victim, and the witness, as well as the dramatic nature of the confrontation that led to Figueredo's death. The Orange County Sheriff's Office continued to investigate the incident, urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
