Eiler, a 27-year-old police officer with the Los Angeles Police Department, tragically lost his life on December 25, 1911, after succumbing to injuries sustained during a robbery incident four days earlier. On December 21, 1911, Eiler responded to a robbery in progress at a business located at the corner of 1st Street and Gary Avenue in Los Angeles.
