His death was the result of a murder-suicide orchestrated by his father, Wilfred Buckland Sr. On that fateful day, Wilfred Buckland Sr., a renowned art director in Hollywood, shot and killed his son before turning the gun on himself. This incident occurred at their home located at 2035 Pinehurst Avenue in the Hollywood Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles.
