In the early morning hours of July 23, 2016, the life of 26-year-old Eboni Thornton was tragically cut short in a violent home invasion in Baltimore, Maryland. Two men forced their way into a residence on Carrolton Avenue where Thornton was present. The intruders opened fire, killing Thornton at the scene and injuring a 34-year-old man who was also in the home.
Thornton, a mother, left behind two young children, a one-year-old and a four-month-old, who were both in the house at the time
of the shooting but were thankfully unharmed. Known affectionately as 'E-Baby,' Thornton was remembered by loved ones as a fun, loving, and outgoing young woman who cherished spending time with her family and friends. The birth of her children had brought her immense joy and a renewed sense of purpose.
In the aftermath of the shooting, Baltimore police detectives began an investigation. They noted the discovery of illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia within the home, leading to speculation that the double homicide may have been drug-related. The suspects were described as two Black males.
Despite the initial investigation and appeals to the public for information, no significant progress in identifying or apprehending the individuals responsible for Eboni Thornton's death has been publicly reported. The case remains one of Baltimore's unsolved homicides from a year marked by a high rate of violent crime. Her family was left to mourn a life taken too soon, with the perpetrators never having been brought to justice.
