Ambers O. Shewmaker, a 28-year-old California Highway Patrol officer, tragically lost his life on November 24, 1969, near Banning, California. On that fateful evening, Officer Shewmaker was conducting a routine traffic stop for a speeding vehicle on Interstate 10, near Apache Trail.
