Jesse Joe "Bo" Hittson, a 27-year-old patrolman with the Yreka Police Department, tragically lost his life on July 17, 1978, in Yreka, California. On that fateful night, Hittson was called back on duty to assist in apprehending suspects involved in a brawl and robbery at a local liquor store and bar. The incident escalated when the suspects, five youths, fled the scene, leading officers on a chase along State Route 263 to the Rocky Gulch area.
