Henry Howell, a 41-year-old resident of Santa Clara, California, was tragically killed on September 1, 1984, near Hope Valley, California. Howell was found shot to death near his car on Highway 88. His death was part of a series of murders attributed to a pair of serial killers, Loren Joseph Herzog and Wesley Howard Shermantine, infamously known as the "Speed Freak Killers." These two men were responsible for a string of killings in the San Joaquin and Alpine counties between 1984 and 1985.
