Deputy Randal Eugene Jennings, aged 38, tragically lost his life on May 21, 1997, in Oroville, California. Jennings, a dedicated member of the Butte County Sheriff's Department, was responding to a domestic violence call when the incident occurred. The call reported a man, Pao Xiong, beating his wife. Upon arrival, Jennings engaged in a gunfight with Xiong in a dark field.
