Stephan Gene Gray, a 34-year-old police officer from Merced, California, tragically lost his life on April 15, 2004. Officer Gray was conducting a traffic stop in his unmarked patrol car in the 1900 block of Glen Avenue in central Merced when he encountered a male passenger, 21-year-old Tahuna "Tao" Rivera, a felon on parole.
