Deputy Sheriff Jerry Ortiz, a dedicated member of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, tragically lost his life on June 24, 2005, in Hawaiian Gardens, California. Ortiz, who was 35 years old at the time of his death, was engaged in a follow-up investigation related to a shooting incident that had occurred the previous day.
