Mark Thomas Dunakin, a 40-year-old sergeant with the Oakland Police Department, tragically lost his life on March 21, 2009, in Oakland, California. Sergeant Dunakin, along with Officer John Hege, was conducting a routine traffic stop at 74th Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard when the driver of the vehicle opened fire.
