Deputy Joel Brian Wahlenmaier, aged 48, tragically lost his life on February 25, 2010, in Minkler, California. He was a dedicated member of the Fresno County Sheriff's Office, having served for 12 years. On that fateful day, Deputy Wahlenmaier was assisting officers from the California Fire Marshal's Office in serving a warrant on a suspected arsonist.
