Charles Hiawatha Butler Jr., a 23-year-old from Oakland, California, tragically lost his life on December 22, 2011. Butler, who had recently completed a training program to become a merchant seaman, was shot and killed in a senseless act of violence. The incident occurred after Butler accidentally bumped a car while parallel parking outside a North Oakland market.
