On April 11, 2012, Ming Qu, a 23-year-old graduate student from the University of Southern California (USC), was tragically murdered along with his friend Ying Wu. The incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. when the two students were sitting in Qu's 2003 BMW, parked on Raymond Avenue, just a mile from the USC campus. The area, known for its crime-ridden history, became the scene of a brutal attack that sparked significant safety concerns among the university community.
