On October 22, 2013, 13-year-old Andrew "Andy" Lopez was fatally shot by Sonoma County sheriff's deputy Erick Gelhaus in Santa Rosa, California. The incident occurred in the Moorland Avenue neighborhood, where Lopez was walking through a vacant lot carrying an airsoft gun designed to resemble an AK-47 assault rifle.
