Hassan Alawsi, an Iraqi-American Muslim, was tragically killed on March 16, 2014, in Sacramento, California. Alawsi was loading the trunk of his car in the parking lot of a Home Depot on Florin Road when he was approached by Jeffrey Caylor. Without any provocation, Caylor shot Alawsi, leading to his immediate death. The incident was initially perceived as a random act of violence, but further investigation revealed potential motives rooted in racial and religious bias.
