Roqueyro Cipriano Vasquez, a 30-year-old Latino, was tragically shot and killed on April 19, 2014, in the Westlake neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. According to reports, Vasquez was dropped off by a taxi around 12:55 a.m. on the 300 block of South Rampart Boulevard. After crossing the street, he approached a black four-door sedan. Witnesses reported seeing two black males and a black female enter the car before Vasquez approached it. As he neared the vehicle, someone inside the car shot him. Vasquez was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:07 a.m.
Vasquez had no known gang affiliations and had been a resident of the neighborhood for several years. He worked full-time at a factory. The investigation into his death was led by the Los Angeles Police Department's Rampart Division homicide detectives. Despite efforts to gather information, including appeals to the public for tips, the case remains unsolved. No arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
