Armando Phillip Barba, a 43-year-old Latino male, tragically lost his life on June 22, 2020, in Venice, Los Angeles. According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records, Barba was shot near 119 Lincoln Blvd. The incident occurred around 9:15 p.m. in the parking lot of a CVS Pharmacy and Whole Foods. Barba, along with another victim, Christian Lopez, 21, of Culver City, was approached by an unknown suspect who fired multiple rounds, striking both men.
While Lopez died at the scene, Barba was transported to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has not determined whether the incident was gang-related. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with emergency responders arriving approximately 30 to 40 minutes after the shooting. Despite efforts to perform CPR on Barba, he did not survive. The suspect fled the scene on foot, heading north on Lincoln Boulevard, and no arrests have been made in connection with the case.
