Joanna Espinoza, a 15-year-old Latina, was tragically shot and killed on April 23, 2014, in Willowbrook, California. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. when Joanna was standing at the bottom of a staircase in a two-story apartment complex on South Wilmington Avenue. She was accompanied by a man when a Latino male approached them. According to Lt. Eddie Hernandez from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Joanna and the gunman exchanged words, though it remains unclear what was said. The ...
