Frank Mendoza, a 54-year-old resident of Pico Rivera, California, tragically lost his life on August 1, 2014, in a case of mistaken identity during a police operation. On that fateful day, Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies were in pursuit of Cedric Ramirez, an armed parolee and known gang member. Ramirez had fled into Mendoza's home, taking a hostage in the process. As deputies attempted to apprehend Ramirez, a gunfight ensued.
