Ruben Mendoza, a 42-year-old resident of Los Angeles, California, tragically lost his life on November 14, 2015. Mendoza was standing in the alley outside his home on Berendo Avenue in Westmont, engaging in a conversation with two other men. The discussion escalated into an argument, during which one of the men pulled out a gun and shot Mendoza. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, Mendoza was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

The investigation into Mendoza's death quickly identified two suspects: Carlos Siordia, 39, and David Sufle, 30. Siordia was apprehended in Compton just two days after the shooting, while Sufle turned himself in to authorities a few days later. During the argument, Siordia allegedly struck Mendoza, and Sufle subsequently opened fire, resulting in Mendoza's fatal injuries.
