Raul Garcia Prieto, a 22-year-old resident of La Puente, was fatally shot on December 21, 2015, in Valinda, a neighborhood in San Gabriel, California. The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. on the 1200 block of Cedon Drive. Prieto was standing on the sidewalk when he was shot. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots and seeing Prieto run into a nearby studio apartment, where he collapsed. He was subsequently transported to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.

Authorities believe the shooting may have been narcotics-related, as evidence at the scene suggested possible involvement with drugs. Prieto was known to be a member of a La Puente gang and had a prior arrest in November for possession of a controlled substance, for which he was on probation at the time of his death. Despite these leads, no arrests have been made, and detectives do not have an eyewitness to the shooting. The investigation remains open, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau is handling the case. Investigators have indicated that Prieto was visiting the house where the shooting occurred and may have gotten into a fight with another individual, described only as a Latino male, who fled the scene before authorities arrived. The house was found to contain narcotics paraphernalia, further supporting the theory of a drug-related motive.

The case has not seen significant developments in terms of arrests or litigation. The lack of eyewitnesses and concrete evidence has made it challenging for law enforcement to make progress. The community and authorities continue to seek information that could lead to the identification and apprehension of the suspect involved in Raul Garcia Prieto's death.
