Stanley Osbaldo Montes, a 25-year-old Latino male, was tragically shot and killed on January 4, 2016, in Los Angeles, California. The incident occurred near South Figueroa Street and West 42nd Place in the Vermont Square neighborhood. According to reports, Montes was playing basketball with friends when two suspects approached the group. One of the suspects opened fire, striking Montes.
