Carlos Misael Funez-Romero, a 19-year-old resident of Antioch, California, tragically lost his life on January 9, 2016, in a brazen shooting aboard a BART train near the West Oakland station. The incident occurred around 7:40 p.m. as the train was en route to San Francisco. Funez-Romero was seated near the train car doors when an unidentified gunman opened fire, fatally wounding him.
