Aaron Gray Choice, a 19-year-old resident of Los Angeles, California, was tragically shot and killed on April 20, 2016. The incident occurred around 9:20 p.m. in the 2000 block of West 35th Street in Exposition Park. According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s records, Choice was crossing the street when he was approached by a gunman. The assailant confronted Choice over gang affiliation and subsequently fired multiple rounds.
Despite being rushed to a hospital, Choice was pronounced dead at 9:39 p.m.
The investigation into Aaron Choice's death has been ongoing. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has been actively seeking information from the public to solve the case. Detective Dave Garrido from the LAPD's Criminal Gang Homicide Division has been involved in the investigation. The police have urged anyone with information to come forward, offering anonymity through Crime Stoppers.
Despite these efforts, the case remains unsolved. In 2018, nearly two years after the murder, a $50,000 reward was offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for Choice's death. His mother, Kim Hardy, has been vocal in her plea for community assistance, emphasizing the need to bring the perpetrator to justice. She has described the emotional toll the loss has taken on her and has called for anyone with knowledge of the incident to help the police.
The suspect in the case was described as a male who approached Choice and his friend as they were walking home from a nearby store. After the shooting, the suspect reportedly fled in what may have been a dark-colored Prius. The LAPD continues to investigate the case, hoping that new leads or tips from the community will eventually lead to an arrest and provide closure for Choice's family.
