Jose Rafael Raya, a 20-year-old resident of Compton, California, tragically lost his life on December 17, 2016. According to reports, Raya was driving west on 130th Street with his girlfriend in the front passenger seat when he stopped at the intersection of Wilmington Avenue around 6:45 p.m. As he prepared to turn northbound, a white sedan pulled up on his driver’s side, and someone inside the vehicle began shooting. Raya was struck in the head by a bullet, causing him to slump forward over the steering wheel. His car came to a stop in the street, and he was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:57 p.m. His girlfriend, fortunately, was not injured in the incident.

The shooter’s white sedan made a U-turn and was last seen heading eastbound on 130th Street. Despite the efforts of investigators, no description of the individuals inside the car has been obtained. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau has been actively seeking information from the public to help solve the case. They have encouraged anyone with information to come forward, offering anonymity through Crime Stoppers.

As of now, there have been no arrests or identified suspects in connection with Raya’s murder. The investigation remains open, with authorities continuing to pursue leads and gather evidence.
