According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s records, Ojeda was approached by an unknown Latino male with a gun while he was standing near East 91st Street and Compton Avenue shortly after 8 p.m. on December 28, 2016. The assailant shot Ojeda in the back and upper torso before fleeing the scene.
Despite his injuries, Ojeda managed to run north and then west into a courtyard, where he eventually collapsed. Deputies who responded to the scene found him lying on the ground and he was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital.
