Richard Tafoya, an 18-year-old former student, tragically lost his life on October 25, 2016, in a suspected gang-related shooting near Banning High School in Wilmington, Los Angeles. The incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. in the vicinity of Pacific Coast Highway and Broad Avenue. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Tafoya was shot and subsequently died at a hospital.
