Randall Thomas Matsunaga, a 24-year-old resident of Redding, California, tragically lost his life on February 1, 2017. He was found with a fatal gunshot wound to his chest at the Bixby Knolls Mobile Home Park in Anderson, just off Highway 273. The circumstances surrounding his death were initially unclear, prompting a thorough investigation by local authorities.
The investigation quickly identified Kane KazzCooper Harrison, also known by the nickname "Rage," as the prime suspect in Matsunaga's murder. Harrison was reportedly involved in an illegal gun sale with Matsunaga. According to witness accounts, an argument ensued during the transaction, leading to Harrison shooting Matsunaga. The witness described how Matsunaga had lifted his shirt to reveal a gun, which prompted Harrison to draw his own weapon and shoot Matsunaga as he attempted to walk away.
Following the incident, Harrison fled the scene, leading to a manhunt by law enforcement.
He was eventually located in Clipper Mills, where he and his girlfriend, Fawn Lilgrass Watkins, were hiding. After a five-hour standoff with authorities, during which tear gas was deployed, Harrison was arrested. Watkins was questioned and released without charges.
Harrison was charged with second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. He pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison.
