De Marco Ranklin, a 32-year-old man from Los Angeles, California, was tragically shot and killed on April 19, 2017. The incident occurred in the 2900 block of Stocker Plaza in Leimert Park. According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s records, Ranklin was sitting in the front passenger seat of a silver Ford pickup truck at the intersection of 8th Avenue and Stocker Plaza when a dark-colored sedan approached.
A man exited the sedan, walked up to the truck, and fired multiple shots into the vehicle. Ranklin managed to get out of the truck but collapsed a short distance away and was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:30 p.m.
The Los Angeles Police Department's Criminal Gang Homicide Division took charge of the investigation. Detective Dave Garrido, who was involved in the case, reported that the suspect was described as a black man. Despite the efforts of the police, the case remains unsolved, and no arrests have been made. The authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward, offering anonymity through Crime Stoppers.
The investigation into Ranklin's death has been challenging, with limited leads and no clear motive established.
