Edwin Lima, a 31-year-old correctional officer from Bakersfield, California, was tragically killed on the night of May 28, 2017. Lima was shot multiple times through the master bedroom window of his estranged wife’s apartment in northeast Bakersfield. The shooter, Rigoberto Sanchez, was also a correctional officer and the estranged husband of Lima's partner. The incident was fueled by Sanchez's jealousy and anger over his wife moving on with her life after their separation.
