On a tragic Easter Sunday in 2010, the life of Eric Michael Everett Sly Jr., a 26-year-old Black man, was cut short by gun violence in New Orleans, Louisiana. On April 4th, at approximately 1:00 PM, Eric was outside in the Milan neighborhood, engaged in the simple act of washing his car on General Taylor Street, when he was brutally shot multiple times. First responders found him lying on the sidewalk, and despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
