In the early hours of a humid summer morning in New Orleans, on August 2, 2010, the life of 22-year-old Gerald Batiste was tragically cut short. Authorities discovered the young man's body lying in the middle of the 1900 block of Alvar Street. He had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident occurred at approximately 2 a.m., a time when the city's vibrant nightlife was still underway, yet details surrounding the shooting remained scarce.
