Justin Kierman, a 31-year-old resident of Riverside, California, was tragically killed on December 22, 2018. The incident occurred in Jurupa Valley, where Kierman was found inside a vehicle near the Indian Hills Golf Club. He had been shot multiple times, including once in the upper back and once in the back of the head. Despite being rushed to Riverside Community Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
The investigation revealed that Kierman's death was the result of a
premeditated act orchestrated by Tyler Catlin Borg, a 35-year-old resident of Fontana. Borg was married to a woman identified in court documents as "C.M.," who had previously been in a relationship with Kierman. The couple had been experiencing marital troubles, and C.M. had recently reconnected with Kierman. Their communication became increasingly intimate, which Borg discovered by placing a GPS tracker on his wife's car and scrutinizing her text messages.
On the night of the murder, Borg used his wife's phone to impersonate her and lure Kierman to a location near her parents' home. When Kierman arrived, Borg ambushed him, firing multiple shots into his vehicle. Borg was arrested shortly after the incident and charged with first-degree murder, along with sentence-enhancing allegations of using a firearm and causing great bodily injury.
During the trial, the prosecution presented evidence of Borg's meticulous planning and the violent nature of the crime. Witnesses testified about the troubled marriage and Borg's growing suspicion and jealousy. The jury found Borg guilty of first-degree murder, and he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
