Charleston Oneal Turner Jr., a 22-year-old resident of Oakland, California, tragically lost his life on December 31, 2018. Turner was found shot inside his car after it crashed into a fire hydrant at the intersection of 60th Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard. He was subsequently pronounced dead at a hospital four days later. The investigation revealed that Turner had been lured to the location by Frankie Jean Porcher, a 30-year-old woman who had accused him of stealing money from her.
Porcher had threatened Turner and arranged to meet him under the pretense of retrieving the stolen money. When Turner arrived, a struggle ensued, and an unidentified man accompanying Porcher shot Turner. The entire incident was captured on surveillance footage.
Frankie Jean Porcher was arrested on January 3, 2019, and charged with murder on February 6, 2019. During her preliminary hearing, Alameda County Superior Court Judge Thomas Reardon determined that there was sufficient evidence for Porcher to stand trial for her role in Turner's death. Prosecutors argued that Porcher had a motive to kill Turner due to the stolen money and had made threats against him shortly before the shooting. Despite her defense attorney's claims that Porcher did not intend for Turner to be killed and only wanted her money back, the judge ruled that her threats and actions indicated otherwise.

After spending six years in jail awaiting trial, Frankie Porcher pleaded no contest to attempted murder in 2024. In exchange for her plea, the murder charge was dropped, and she was sentenced to nine years in state prison.
