On the morning of July 31, 2019, Benito Canales-Godinez, a 42-year-old resident of King City, California, was tragically shot and killed. The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. in the 52000 block of Oasis Road, just outside King City. The Monterey County Sheriff's Office quickly launched an investigation, treating the case as a homicide.
