On April 22, 2009, Alex Cortes, a 13-year-old boy from King City, California, tragically lost his life in a shooting incident. Alex was playing video games with friends in the garage of a house on Beech Street when the attack occurred. The assailants, believed to be gang members, approached the house and fired multiple shots into the garage, striking Alex and several others. Alex was shot in the head and died at the scene.
