Kamryn Stone, an 18-year-old from Pasadena, California, tragically lost his life on September 14, 2019. Stone, a recent high school graduate who was taking real estate classes at West Los Angeles College, was working as a custodian at the Rose Bowl on the night of his death. The incident occurred in a parking lot outside the stadium following a football game between the University of Oklahoma and UCLA. Stone was attempting to break up a fight among workers when he was fatally stabbed in the heart. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into Stone's death led to the identification and arrest of two suspects. Don Wayne Davenport, 20, was identified early in the investigation as the alleged shooter. He was arrested on February 11, 2020, and charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and shooting from a motor vehicle. The handgun used in the shooting was recovered by the police. Kyonne Garner, also 20, was identified as the stabbing suspect. Garner was already in custody in Nevada on an unrelated charge when he was charged with murder in connection with Stone's death. The lawsuit claims that the company failed to properly screen the employees of Cindy's Cleaning Service LLC, the firm that employed Stone.
