Despite his efforts to return home, he collapsed on the sidewalk on the 200 block of Parke Street, where he was later found by police with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Known affectionately as "Big Ernesto" in his community, Jimenez was beloved for his warm nature and his love for playing music at the park. Importantly, he had no gang affiliations, which has left his family and friends puzzled and heartbroken over the senseless act of violence that took his life.
In the aftermath of his death, the investigation into Jimenez's murder has faced significant challenges. Despite the efforts of the Pasadena Police Department and the support of the community, no arrests have been made, and the case remains unsolved. To encourage anyone with information to come forward, Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger announced a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Jimenez's murder.
