Yocelin Kadi Zuniga, an 18-year-old Latina, tragically lost her life on December 18, 2019, after being shot in North Hollywood, CA. The incident occurred on December 14, 2019, around 9 p.m. when Zuniga was a passenger in a white BMW driven by her boyfriend. As they were traveling east on Vanowen Street and stopped at Ethel Avenue, a gray sedan pulled up beside them. A person inside the sedan opened fire, striking Zuniga in the head. Despite her boyfriend's attempts to chase the gray sedan, the pursuit ended when he hit a curb. He then rushed Zuniga back to his house and called 911. Zuniga was taken to a hospital and placed on life support, but she succumbed to her injuries four days later.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) launched an investigation into the shooting. The suspect was described as a heavy-set Latino with a light complexion, driving a gray four-door sedan. Authorities have been seeking additional information from the public to identify and apprehend the shooter.
