On the evening of October 20, 2023, in North Hollywood, California, 48-year-old Angelica Chavez was found deceased inside her SUV on the 6500 block of Riverton Avenue. Responding to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon and shots fired around 7:45 p.m., Los Angeles Police Department officers discovered Chavez with multiple gunshot wounds; the vehicle's engine was still running.
Nearby, approximately two houses away, officers found 46-year-old Cesar Robles in a driveway, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's office identified Chavez's death as a homicide due to multiple gunshot wounds, while Robles's death was ruled a suicide.
The LAPD's investigation determined that Robles shot Chavez as she sat in her vehicle before taking his own life. Neighbors indicated that Chavez and Robles were married and had an adult daughter.
